VISITOR (TOURIST) VISAS
EU Passport holders including Greek and Bulgarian applicants DO NOT need to approach this office to apply for a Visitor Visa.
- Greek applicants can obtain an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) at their travel agent (when purchasing their airfare) for a stay in Australia of 3 months of less. See http://www.eta.immi.gov.au.
Important - Changes to ETAs from April 2008
From 21 April 2008, the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship is implementing changes to its Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) system. In a small number of cases we may not immediately issue your ETA. In these circumstances, please check back in 12 hours to confirm whether your application has been successful. Accordingly clients are advised to apply for their ETA as early as possible to allow sufficient time for their application to be processed.
- Greek and Bulgarian applicants can apply for Tourist visas (e676), which allows a stay in Australia for up to 12 months, online by following this link: http://www.immi.gov.au/e_visa/visitors-outside-tourist-visa-options.htm
Important - Changes to Tourist (e676) eVisa forms from 26 April 2008
From 26 April 2008 the Department of Immigration and Citizenship will implement changes to the e676 eVisa forms (the online and offline eforms). The eVisa forms available on the Internet will be changed to contain additional questions on Health and Character. To avoid any unnecessary delays in processing, you are encouraged to complete all of the additional information prior to lodging your application online.
Albanian, UNMIK (Kosovar) and other (non EU) passport holders will need to lodge a paper-based application with the Athens office and will need to provide the following:
- Application form 48R duly completed and signed
- Application fee of 65 euro (as at 01/07/2008). If this amount is to be sent by mail please also include credit card information and authority.
- Your valid passport
- One passport-sized photo of each applicant
- Financial documentation clearly providing your current financial situation ie bank statement showing transactions and balance or savings book. These statements/savings books should show transactions over a period of time more than three months prior to lodgement of your application.
- Letter of invitation if applicable. Should you be visiting close relatives (parents, brother/sister, cousins etc) please provide evidence of their residence status in Australia or evidence of your hotel reservations
- If you are employed, a letter from your employer will be necessary, certifying when you commenced employment, type of contract, position held, leave approval, and that you will be returning to your place of employment on your return to Greece. If you are self-employed, please provide proof of your business
- Proof of your legal status in Greece (ie Green card or residence permit)
- If married to a Greek citizen please provide a copy of your marriage certificate and copy of spouse’s Greek passport.
- For all applicants over 70 years of age evidence of Health Insurance must be provided.
Failure to submit one or more of the items outlined above may result in the delay or refusal of your application
