Applying for a first Australian adult passport or a child's passport

If you are an Australian citizen and applying for your first Australian passport, or a passport for your child, you may either:

Applications must be lodged in person at the Embassy in Athens or our Consulates in Thessaloniki (northern Greece) or Sofia (Bulgaria).

Additional Information for both Adult and Children's Applications

Please note that Consular staff cannot complete the form for you.
Ensure that you have the appropriate original documents listed on pages 1 and 2 of the form with you when you lodge your application.
English language translations of any supporting documentation required (for example birth, marriage or divorce certificates or change of name certificates issued by countries other than Australia) are only acceptable from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs in either Athens (Greece), Sofia (Bulgaria) or Tirana (Albania).
Ensure that you have an appropriate guarantor complete section 12 of the application form and endorse the back of one passport photograph. Please ensure that the guarantor does not place any stamps over their signatures. We must also be able to contact your guarantor within 24 hours of lodgement of your application otherwise your application may be rejected.
Ensure that you take note of the passport photograph size, colour and quality requirements. If your photographs do not meet the criteria, your application will be rejected.

Parental consent is required from all persons with a caring responsibility for the child. Page 3 provides instructions where this is not possible.
If the child was born in Australia on or after 20 August 1986 you must provide proof that one parent was an Australian citizen at the time of the birth. Section 3a on Page 5 provides instruction on acceptable documents.
All children over 10 years of age must sign the signature box at section 19 in the middle of page 9 and the blank signature label on the bottom of page 9.
